There’s something magical about trying something new.
As grown-ups, we often forget that feeling — the little flutter of nerves, the excitement, the “what if I get it wrong?” thoughts. But children feel it all the time. Every new class, every new craft, every new friendship starts with a small, brave step into the unknown.
This week at Mini Makers Club, I found myself trying something new too. A fresh idea, a different setup, a tweak to how we usually do things. It would have been easier to stick to what I know works — but creativity doesn’t grow inside comfort zones, does it?
And that’s exactly what we encourage our mini makers to do.
Trying something new isn’t about getting it perfect. It’s about exploring. It’s about asking “what happens if…?” It’s about squeezing the paint too hard, mixing colours that turn a bit muddy, building a tower that wobbles and falls — and then trying again.
In our sessions, we celebrate the process more than the product. When a child experiments with a new material, uses a tool for the first time, or proudly shows off something that didn’t quite go to plan — that’s where the real learning happens. That’s resilience. That’s problem-solving. That’s confidence growing right in front of us.
Mini Makers Club itself began as something new — an idea spoken between friends, a handful of resources on my kitchen table, and a big leap of faith. It wasn’t polished. It wasn’t perfect. But it was full of heart. And that’s what mattered.
So here’s your gentle nudge (for you and your little ones):
Sign up for the class.
Try the messy activity.
Mix the colours.
Build the wobbly tower.
Say yes to something new.
Because you never know where one brave, creative step might lead.
Let’s keep making, exploring and trying something new — together. 🎨✨
